Paratransit Transportation

Expertise in Paratransit Transportation: More than just specialized transportation.

Transportation America is the leading provider of paratransit transportation in the South Florida. We move thousands of seniors, mobility challenged individuals and people with disabilities safely and comfortably every year in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

The American Disabilities Act of 1990 requires all transit authorities to provide paratransit services for people unable to use regular public transit.

For Transportation America, paratransit service is much more than just a specialized means of transportation. For our ridership, paratransit means freedom, independence and accessibility. Our highly trained personnel is committed to providing quality service, compassion and respect to all of or passengers.

Our clients and partners rely on Transportation America to provide complete paratransit and non-emergency solutions. We build and leverage technology to improve dispatch, route design and operational coordination, and to provide passengers with up-to-the-minute schedule information.

We manage and operate an elaborate call center with sophisticated dispatch software. We focus on efficiency and budget management.  We continually strive to achieve the right balance between service, quality and costs management while adhering to the highest safety standards.

We invest heavily in both people & technology

Transportation America has invested heavily in both people and technology to back our commitment to first-class, on-time paratransit service:

  • We use the latest transportation management software systems, Including TRAPEZE Software.

  • We have developed special training programs to help dispatchers, schedulers, reservationists and managers learn how to use their software most effectively.

  • We have customized paratransit software programs to enhance the “real-time” performance of dispatch and dynamic route planning, and are able to provide both health providers and passengers with up-to-the-minute schedule information.

  • We use GPS technology to proactively anticipate and solve problems.

  • We build flexibility into route designs so fluctuating demand can be accommodated more easily.

Special Transportation Service (STS) & Transportation Options (Tops)

With a fleet of over 400 vehicles in Miami-Dade County and over 110 vehicles in Broward County that include vans and sedans, Transportation America manages and operates Miami-Dade County’s Special Transportation Service (STS) and Broward County’s Transportation Options (TOPS).

Our paratransit fleet in Broward County services over 1500 certified riders daily. Our Miami-Dade County paratransit fleet is the largest in the County, the state of Florida, and one of the biggest in the nation, providing door to door service for over 32,000 certified riders who cannot ride Metro-bus, Metro-rail or Metro-mover.

Transportation America has a special commitment to the riders of the paratransit and specialized transportation programs.  Many of Transportation America’s employees are mobility challenged, so our firm has a special understanding of our rider’s needs that few providers of paratransit service can attain.

For over two (2) decades, Transportation America’s management team has helped deliver over 25 Million trips safely, on time, and within our clients’ budgets.  Transportation America has been recognized by the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged as “Operator of the Year” for our exceptional paratransit services.

The TA management team has over 40 years of paratransit program management at such agencies as Miami-Dade County, Broward County, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and Pinellas County Transit.
